This master plan reflects the aspiration for the largest, and most exciting, mixed-use TOD (Transport Oriented Development) destination in the Dongzhimen District of Beijing. It is a 16.5 ha sustainable, high-density urban park sitting on top of the interchange station of three metro lines and also connected to the airport express line.

The buildings are laid out along the one-of-a-kind, multi-level pedestrian thoroughfare, crossing through the typical Beijing block and linking two major ring roads.

Office and SOHO towers, hotels, serviced apartments, and exclusive luxury residential towers emerge from a dune-like topography, where shopping and cultural activities weave into a series of plazas, event spaces and sunken gardens.

Underground retail routes provide seamless flow for the pedestrian traffic coming from the public transport network and continue along the site, providing access to the commercial towers. The flagship, retail volumes “popping-up” through large “breathing” sunken plazas, add soul and vibrancy to the urban park.

Shortlisted for the Mixed-Use World Architecture News Award – Future Projects category – the judges described the project as “rational, buildable, believable and with a very strong public realm that knits everything together in a unique way”.
