Mixed-use Master Planning, Retail Planning, Architecture

This mixed-use TOD development on Wuzhong Road sits above Ziten Road Station on Metro Line 10. The 530,000 sqm complex includes one of the largest MixC Malls with 240,000 sqm, premium offices and hotels as well as the Shanghai Metro Museum.

The vision to this master plan was to create a suspended landscaped outdoor environment accessed directly by the metro that would bring together the retail centre, hotels, offices, cultural and entertainment facilities – one that required smart planning paired with efficient traffic engineering.

The site is home to an operational train depot for the metro line. Only part of the site could be excavated – mostly reserved to the shopping mall location – and all other buildings would be placed on top of the train depot. Technical constraints related to structural load capacity, ventilation, and noise insulation to name a few great imposed challenges to the project. The technical complexities of the site and coordination with various existing infrastructures make this development a remarkable achievement.
