This mixed-use master plan include two adjacent sites at Porto Maravilha – the revitalised old docks area currently going through regeneration. The project aims to maximise plot density through a design that is responsive to its urban context.
It consists of a 23-storey development with two frontages, one facing the road the other completing the urban block courtyard formed by Cidade do Samba.
The bulky building mass is broken up into architectural proportions according to its functions: a glass-clad hotel tower, serviced apartment blocks with balconies and street level shops.
Across the road and adjacent to the restored railway depot warehouses known as Galpões da Gamboa, low-rise office suites blocks are organized in a zigzag within the triangular site so as to create open courtyard gardens exposed to the historic warehouses next door.
