The centre is one of the most successful examples of vertical retail in Asia, with its 7-level atria. With lots of new office and converted buildings in the vicinity, it has been a major regeneration catalyst of the old-industrial area of Kwun Tong.

Conceived for the young shopper with a far greater rate of entertainment and dining offerings than a typical centre, its brand name derives from day and night, a response to today’s 24-hour lifestyle.

APM opened in 2005 to widespread acclaim. At the time of opening, it set a few trends in the industry and offered design novelties such as express escalators fast tracking flows to upper levels, as well as trendy super graphics applications on feature walls, doors, seating areas and toilets that talked to its audience and helped reinforce the brand, which was later replicated in China.
